Brain injury recovery is unlike any other healing journey. It unfolds unpredictably, often invisibly, while requiring you to adapt, grieve and rebuild your sense of self at the same time you are managing real, daily symptoms. The same is often true for chronic health conditions like long-COVID and chronic pain, which share many of the same invisible burdens. That is a lot to carry. At Concussed., the work goes beyond symptom management. It is about honoring the full emotional and psychological weight of what you are going through, and finding a path forward that feels like yours.

Brain injury and many chronic health conditions share qualities that make recovery particularly difficult compared to other injuries and illnesses: an unpredictable timeline, the frequent invisibility of symptoms, and the sheer complexity of what the body and brain are navigating. Meaningful recovery requires holding all of that, which means considering the biological, psychological, and social impacts that injury and illness can have on a person’s life. I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities and adapt them to meet those realities: the cognitive demands, the unpredictable symptom days, the grief, and the identity shifts that so often go unacknowledged. Sessions are flexible by design, because healing is not a one-size-fits-all model, and neither is the way we do this work together. Whether you are newly injured, deep into a long recovery, or navigating a chronic condition that others can’t see, you deserve support that truly understands what that experience feels like from the inside.

Individual Therapy

Individualized therapy for those impacted by brain injury and other chronic health conditions. Together, we will explore the emotional, cognitive and relational impacts of what you are navigating. See below for a list of common challenges I often support clients in navigating.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy for processing trauma. For those carrying medical trauma, injury-related trauma, or prior traumatic experiences, EMDR can help the nervous system release what it has been holding so that healing can move forward.

Navigating a complex medical system is exhausting. As part of your care, I am available to collaborate with your existing medical providers to ensure that your emotional and psychological needs are understood and integrated into your broader treatment plan.
